From over the water, the Dutch Nursery stock industry is coming out of its corner in response to budget cuts. As you’ve already read, the Green City Guidelines document and project has considerable official backing. In addition to this, however, there is another exciting campaign under way right now with the headline Groen Loont or ‘Green Pays’.
This is a campaign based around a book, a poster and four follow-up newsletters with the theme of ‘residential, working and recreational environments and green space & well-being’ all to be published in 2011. It is based on empirical data for the economic value of green infrastructure. In addition, the Dutch Entente Florale conference on 27 October will focus on the ‘Green Amenities Pay!’ campaign. This campaign is supported by Dutch consumer and tourist organisation the ANWB, as well as a group of industry and research organisations.
