Trees take center stage at Floriade 2012 Print

On 6 April 2012, the international horticultural exhibition Floriade 2012 will open its doors to the public. This 64-hectare horticultural showcase will not only preserve the area’s existing forestry resources, but will enhance the site with the planting of additional trees.  Already, 1500 large calipre trees – about 85 per cent of the new plantings scheduled for Floriade 2012 – have been planted.

Although it’s a full two years before Floriade 2012 will open its gates to the public, the design and preparation for this once-per-decade horticultural showcase is already well underway.  Featuring as its central theme, “Be part of the theatre of nature, get closer to the quality of life,” this newest edition of Floriade will be particularly focused on showcasing the true value of plants and green space by highlighting their social, economic and environmental benefits.

Plantarium 2009 will have a record number of participants Print

There’s always lots of oohing and aahing over new introductions at Plantarium.With 275 exhibitors, 50 of them from abroad — Plantarium 2009, the international trade fair for hardy nursery stock held annually in Boskoop, The Netherlands — has established a new record. Not only are this year’s exhibitors from across Europe but also from Australia, Sierra Leone, the USA, and Israel which is on board with a strong presence of 8 companies.

Plantarium, held annually in Boskoop, the Netherlands, is Europe’s largest trade show of nursery stock for the consumer market.  This year’s theme is ‘Knowledge’ and the dates for this, the 27th edition of the show are Wednesday, August 26 to Saturday, August 29.
